    Ron Paul???

What confuses me about "Ronulans" is their support of his position on the war on terrorists.    Ron Paul has as much chance of being our next president as I do.  So if you are against the war on terrorists, well that's basically the Democrat position anyhow.  And Clinton and Obama do have a chance to be elected.  Sadly, a very good chance.

I've lived here long enough to have great respect for Libertarians.  *** Randolph was a very good legislator.  I thank him every time that I dont have to pay state income taxes.

But we live in the post 9/11 world, and no matter what CBS or NBC or CNN tell us, national security is still of the upmost importance.  Big wet sloppy kisses dont work with the Islamic extremists.  They really do want to kill us.

I was for Thompson, but he's done for.  I'll support a different candidate, but it wont be Ron Paul.

    Re: Ron Paul???

I agree that the Islamic EXTREMISTS want to kill us. The rest of the Islamics don't. National security does not necessarily = invading another country because they have oil. Or because God told you to. Or because someone who made a mistake said there might be WMDs in that country, and the powers that be couldn't be bothered to find out for sure first!

I think national security has more to do with protecting our own borders, not those of several other countries. We are pouring so much money into these "wars on terror" that there are very real emergencies in our own country where people are NOT being taken care of at all. A big example is hurricane Katrina. Very small examples exist in every city. Starving, neglected children you don't see. Homeless people. Regular people who are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet because of the rising cost of living and non-rising wages.

Our current government is getting all cozy with the Arabs, too. Did you know that if a woman is raped by a man (other than her husband) in many Arab countries, SHE can be killed as punishment? They believe that the woman must have "tempted" the man to rape her and he could not help himself. !!!

How about global warming? Hello! What is the government that is supposed to be "of the people, by the people and for the people" doing about this? Pushing it under the rug mostly! Calling it "Climate Change". Wait and see, the scientists are really telling the truth. Why would they lie? Our government, as a token gesture of "assistance", is helping to rebuild New Orleans. Why not move it? Much better idea, since it is a fact that the levies won't withstand another huge hurricane and the land New Orleans is built on is actually sinking. The sea level really is rising, too, and will not stop for a really long time. These are facts, not propoganda made up to scare people. New Orleans will be underwater in 30 years. Mark my words.

Much of the "terror" we face is unfortunately engendered by the media. The media could actually be responsible for the so called recession we are having, just by the way they report the bad news of some downturns as being such a crisis, and start heralding the beginning of a recession before it is a reality. The media reports a lot of bad news as a crisis. People eat it up and believe it, and often live by it.

I think that after 9/11 the smart thing to do would have been to strengthen our defenses. 9/11 was an act of war, but the act was not perpetrated by a COUNTRY. It was done by a group of religious extremists. If all the national security "bureaus" would have been working together, and were working together now, instead of getting into so many "pissing contests" over who has jurisdiction, etc, etc, we would probably have been able to stop the attack.

Now we are pouring money into foreign countries who are seemingly ambivalent about our involvement, while our own country is beginning to show some serious signs of needing lots of help in lots of areas, and many of our own citizens are suffering terribly. In what way is that proving that we are "more civilized" or a "great world leader?"

Clinton is smart. I think she is smarter than Obama. She is capable. I think she is more capable than Obama. I think she is "for the people", and will do what she says she will. But that is of course, just my opinion, which, thank Whoever is In Charge, is still my right to have in this country, right along with religious freedom, which I really don't want to lose, and which I fear some of our presidential canditates would truly like to remove! But that is another very hot topic!
