In a world that's been mapped, surveyed, traversed, and Googled, what is left for ordinary people to discover? Sherry Simpson will consider how adventuring and exploring changes us, changes our ideas about place, and changes the place itself.
Writer Sherry Simpson grew up in Juneau and has lived throughout Alaska including nearly twenty years in Fairbanks. She now lives in Anchorage, teaching creative writing at the University of Alaska. Sasquatch Books has published two collections of her essays, "The Accidental Explorer: Wayfinding in Alaska" & "The Way Winter Comes". She is currently working on a book about bears and people in Alaska for the University Press of Kansas
