Description / Comments

The public is encouraged to come:

Live music and a lasagne feed will entertain guests while four silent  auctions of art, jewelry, books, clothing, gift certificates, and  baskets of other items will help raise money for a new building. A few  specific items include: a Guy Noir mystery basket, a four-person silver salmon  fishing charter, and Alaska memorabilia such as a genuine Fireplug  sled dog stage race patch and an Ester-era Howling Dog Saloon bumpersticker.

The primary aim of the Book Bash is to raise funds for a new library  building. The library has been expanding steadily both in its collections and membership since its founding eight and a half years  ago, and the space that is now being rented has become too small.   Property for the new library/community center in the village of Ester  has been purchased, initial clearing done, and a gazebo begun; construction for the main library begins summer 2008.

The event will include the auctions, several musical performances, and  a lasagne dinner with many delicious side dishes and desserts. Kate  Billington, performance coordinator, has again engaged a wide variety  of excellent local talent: guitarist Chuck Brainerd, jazz pianist  Desmond Cole, the rock trio GRL Jam, and saxophonist Nelson Felix.

The library is part of the Ester Community Association, a nonprofit  organization, and was founded in 1999. It was named after John Trigg,  a local resident and an avid reader and storyteller who started a > local book exchange. Memberships, t-shirts, and construction > information will be available at the fundraiser. Donations are  tax-deductible.
