Game On!

MONDAY IT'S A LONG ONE!!!!!

WELL A GOOD AND BAD WEEKEND FOR FAIRBANKS SPORTS FANS ...

THE GRIZZLIES SHOWED UP TO PLAY SATURDAY AND EVERY FAN THERE KNEW IT.  IT WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE AT THE CARLSON CENTER FOR ARENA FOOTBALL....I LOVED IT!!!!  TONS OF ACTION, LOTS OF STUFF TO DO AND SEE, AND THE TEAM LOOKED SOLID.  EVEN DARRYL LEWIS SHOWED UP ... THAT CRAZY FELLA .. HE MIGHT LIKE THAT MORE THAN BASKETBALL ... I THINK I EVEN SAW HIM GETTING HIS GROOVE ON ... ON THE SIDELINE ..QUITE A SIGHT.  SO I SAY GO GRIZ AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU BACK HOME ... GET IT DONE IN TEXAS!!!!

I JINXED IT SATURDAY NIGHT AND THE ICE DOGS LOST.  THEIR FIRST LOSS IN A WHILE AND THEIR FIRST AGAINST KENAI RIVER THIS YEAR.  IT WAS GREAT TO SEE A GOOD SHOWING AT THE BIG DIPPER ... KEEP IT UP DOG POUND.

SO TO THE NATIONAL WORLD I GO .......

GOTTA GIVE A LITTLE HELLO ...BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE SHOUT OUTS.... TO MY PAL EDDIE GILL.  GILL GRADUATED FROM WEBER STATE IN OGDEN UTAH BACK IN THE LATE 90'S.  I GRADUATED FROM THERE IN '05 AND GOT TO SEE HIM AND HAROLD ARCENEAUX PLAY AND BEAT UNC IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE NCAA TOURNEY IN 98.  GILL JUST SIGNED A LITTLE 10-DAY CONTRACT WITH THE SUPERSONICS ... WILL BE NICE TO SEE HIM ON TV AGAIN.

OPENING DAY OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TOMORROW (TUESDAY) CAN'T WAIT ... I LOVE BASEBALL.  PERSONALLY A HUGE PHILLIES FAN AND SOME SAYING THIS COULD BE THEIR YEAR BUT I NEVER GET EXCITED BECAUSE THIS COULD BE THE YEAR FOR ANYONE.  SPEAKING OF BASEBALL ... STERIODS, HGH, BONDS...DO I REALLY NEED TO GO THERE .  ALL I REALLY HAVE TO SAY IS I AM SO SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT AND WHY ARE WE SPENDING AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS HOLDING CONGRESSIONAL MEETINGS WITH ROGER CLEMENS ... WHEN THE ECONOMY IS AT AN ALL TIME LOW AND WE HAVE A WAR GOING ON.... AS A MILITARY SPOUSE COULD WE MAYBE FIGURE OUT A WAY TO RESOLVE THAT BEFORE WE GET ALL TICKED OFF THAT CLEMENS DID TAKE STEROIDS?  AND FURTHER MORE ... MY PERSONAL OPINION, HE OR ANYONE (ESPECIALLY BONDS) SHOULD NOT BE ENTERED IN THE HALL OF FAME IF PETE ROSE IS NOT ENTERED.  THE THINGS THAT  MAN DID, DID NOT AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF HIS GAMES OR THE WAY HE PLAYED.... OK I THNK I'VE SAID MY PEACE ABOUT THAT ONE...AT LEAST FOR NOW!

BUT GOING BACK TO OPENING DAY ... MY ONLY OTHER GRIPE (AT LEAST AT THE MOMENT) WHY ARE WE TAKING AMERICAS FAVORITE PAST TIME AND SENDING IT TO JAPAN FOR OPENING DAY?  AM I WRONG ... BUT THAT DOESN'T SEEM VERY AMERICAN TO ME.  BILLIONS OF BASEBALL FANS WOULD PAY TOP DOLLAR TO SEE THE RED SOX AND THE A'S DUKE IT OUT HERE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE ... SO MR. SELIG IF YOU HAPPEN TO READ THIS ... BRING BASEBALL HOME!!

Definitely is a long Monday...and a long week.  I've noticed now that the first week of the baseball season every year will now be late into spring training and we all have to go to bed after work the night before the first pitch of each regular season starts.

That's right, a 2 am first pitch between the A's and the Chowder Heads.  The "gyro-ball" returns to Japan as Daisuke Matsuzaka returns to his native country and starts the season for the Red Sox in a matter of hours from now.

But ManRam in the crew won't be focused on them much this year, as the Billy Goat will be headlining 2008 every single day.  That's right, Scrubs fans.  Happy 100th Anniversary of your last World Series title.  I love it how Scrub fans know how to count past 100...101..102...103...I could see Ozzie Guillen laughing at Lou's crew.  I like it.

Anyways, here are my picks for this year's MLB season:

AL East:  Red Sox
AL Central:  White Sox
AL West:  Angels
AL Wild Card:  Mariners

NL East:  Nationals
NL Central:  Brewers
NL West:  Padres
NL Wild Card:  Dodgers

World Series:  Padres over Angels

I agree on the whole Far East Baseball Games...I mean we already have to watch games off of east coast time but now we have to adjust to a long awaited baseball season debut in the far far east...especially too in that its the World Series Champs playing and we can't see them live. As far as the whole steroid issue...I willing to bet that 90 percent of the league has used some form of it before. And pitchers more so than batters just because it helps them heal faster. So, Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, Canseco, Petitte are all liars...Great players yes, but great players still need aides...anyways here is my picks for the upcoming baseball season...

AL East: Red Sox
AL Central: Tigers
AL West: Angels
AL Wildcard: Indians

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Brewers
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Card: Phillies

World Series: Mets (Johan Santana baby) over the Tigers in a pitching duel.
