STATE BASKETBALL

SO THIS WEEKS TOPIC STATE BASKETBALL ... IN PARTICULAR THE 4-A CLASS.

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR THERE WAS NO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT FOR THIS CLASS, TEAMS WITH THE BEST RECORD ADVANCE LEAVING EVERYONE ELSE AT HOME.

WAS THIS A GOOD DECISION BY ASAA.

AND HERE'S MY QUESTION FOR THE WEEK?  I AM NEW TO TOWN AND HAVE NO SHAME IN ASKING THE SIMPLE QUESTION SO WHETHER OR NOT IT IS SIMPLE HERE GOES....

WHY IS IT THAT 4-A TEAMS FROM THIS AREA (INTERIOR) ONLY GET TO SEND ONE TEAM TO STATE WHILE TEAMS FROM AREAS LIKE ANCHORAGE AND MAT-SU GET TO BRING TWO.  I REALIZE THERE ARE PROBABLY MORE TEAMS/SCHOOLS DOWN THERE BUT SHOULDN'T IT BE EQUAL ACROSS THE BOARD???

HELP ME OUT PEOPLE?

The Anchorage schools which make up the Cook Inlet Conference have 8 schools so they send 3 to state... The Mat Su Area/Kenai Peninsula Conference has 8 schools too so they send 3 to state as well...The Southeast Conference has 3 schools so they send one and Fairbanks has 4 now so they send one...Back in the day Monroe and Eielson used to be 4A so they would send 2 to state. Its based on schools in your conference so the more schools you have the more that go to state. I think that since there is like 22 or 23 schools in 4A basketball that they should make it a real March Madness and have all the schools in it. Since there is WPI rankings have the number 1 team play the number 22 team and so on until you have like an elite 8 in a neutral site for the state championship. Back when i was in high school they used to rotate the site of the state tournament. I think that would generate a lot of revenue and excitement and show basketball at its finest.
